Hey!!!

So yes it is true... Flossing can be bad for your teeth! Who knew. The Dentist was super nice. He drilled it out filled it up and then said "This one's on the house. My fire insurance just in case my tithing doesn't go through." I was SO happy that it was a simple fix. I had a dream (nightmare) that all of my teeth started to just break apart and fall out so when I flossed out a white chunk of "tooth" I was super scared! And then Sister Morby said I think that you are going to need a crown and maybe a root canal....  just add to the stress!! But all is good and all the holes in my mouth are filled.

It is crazy to think that Krystal is gone... She will do really well in the field. She has the perfect personality for this. I have been thinking about her a lot. There is not a huge difference in our schedules so I often wonder if we are doing the same things at the same time.

We had a good week here. Leatha was confirmed which was great! I hated having an 8 day wait for that... There are so many things that can happen in 8 days. Not that I think that Leatha is going to fall away but Satan is not our friend.... AT ALL.

We are still just working hard and working on getting things moving. This week were dropped down on our lessons but stayed up above 20 so that was good. Things like the Dentist got in the way.

It is so weird right now. Every missionary (including Sister Morby) just want this mission split to get done. It is like waiting 4 months for a mission call and still another month to go.... I just hate not knowing. At this point I don't care what happens I just want to know. I guess it is like President says "lets make this the best mont the OPM has ever seen." That is what we are trying to do... Work!!!

Thanks for all the Birthday wishes. Love you all!!!

Zone pictures

May 20

Hey!!!

The week has finally come.... Krystal is leaving!! The world will never be the same!!!

We had a really awesome week here. There were so many things that happened that I will just have to do a day by day....

Monday- District P-day  Bowling

Tuesday- We worked SO hard and got so much done. It was amazing!

Wednesday- We had Zone Meeting (Like district meeting but as a zone and yes it is different then zone conference) It was really good and we had a lot of good training on the power of the atonement:
1st- Though the power of the Atonement we can be cleansed from sin
2nd- Through the power of the Atonement we can be endowed with power from on high (I gave this one)
3rd- Thought the power of the Atonement we can qualify for eternal life.
Then after that most of the zone had interview with President Morby... Not me but my companion did. So we were there for a while. After all of those interviews President interviewed Leatha for baptism. Leatha said that it was a wonderful interview and she was ready for baptism.

Thursday- We went out to Leatha's house for the first time. It was amazing and she was so happy to have us out there. She actually doesn't live in our ward but was baptized there because of all the fellowship so she lives about 45 minutes outside of our area but it is within our district.

Friday- I had leadership training in Tualatin most of the day. It was awesome! President is really trying to keep everyone excited and not worried about the mission split. It was a great meeting and I really left there excited. Plus I got to come back to Tualatin.

Saturday- Leatha got baptized!!!!! It started of really rocky... All morning I kept getting the thought what would happen if the font overflowed.... Keep in mind that we were not in charge of filling the font. Well we got to the church one hour before the baptism and we were the only ones there. I heard the water still running so I took my keys and unlocked the door took one step in with out turning on the lights... and there was water on the floor. So we ran to the other side got it unlocked and shut off the water. I quickly took off my shoes and socks and rolled up my pants and started to mop up the floor. All right problem solved. The water level was going down because of the over flow drain, good to go. Well we were waiting for everyone to show up and we were wondering why our baptism program hadn't shown up yet. Well there was a miss communication and we were supposed to go get it on our way to the church. So 15 minutes before it was supposed to start we are running out of the church hop in the car and fly to go and get it (I only got one driving violation on the trip). All right we are back at the church. The person performing the baptism still isn't there and it is 12... Ok picture time... Oh wait I didn't grab my camera! Anyway all things worked out and once the prayer was said the spirit just filled the room... It was such an awesome moment! That evening we went to the adult session of Stake Conference and it was awesome! We has Elder Falibella of the 70 there. He was the one that spoke in conference on Sunday about shaking hands and getting the money to make it home. It was really good.

Sunday- Stake Conference, once again awesome. Right after stake conference President Morby grabbed all of us missionaries and pulled us into the Relief Society room for a quick meeting. It was a very somber and basically depressing meeting. He talked about how all of those areas were going to be in a new mission and under a new mission president. It was so sad and when he asked Sister Morby if she had anything that she wanted to say she covered her face with both of her hands and just cried. It was so sad. Then Sunday night we went to the temple with Don and Leatha for a Recent Convert Fireside at the Visitors Center put on by the Mission Presidency. They really enjoyed that. So all in all it was a really great week!

Thanks for all that you do for me! I love you all!!!!

Leaving or so I thought! Haha

Transfer Day - Oh wait not leaving!

May 12

Hey!

It was really fun to be able to talk to you yesterday! Everyone sounds like they are doing really well. It is crazy how fast time goes and how much everyone is doing. Thats what keeps us young right:)

So we had a really good week. Leatha is hopefully going to get baptized on Saturday... She has an interview on Wednesday with President Morby so as long as that goes well we will have a baptism this Saturday. I am really nervous because we have Stake Conference this weekend and because of that she won't be confirmed until the next Sunday... I am not a fan of that but "That's how the cookie crumbles!"

I wish that I could have gone to the Piano Guys with you! They are way good! Did they come to Idaho Falls?

What are you going to be doing in Cody? Random place... I hope that it is a fun trip!

Sorry it is so short... Not too mush that I didn't all ready tell you.

Love you all SO much!!!

Hey!!!

This week has been great! We have been having many sunny clear days and we have been told that they are not supposed to end!!! I never knew how much I loved the sun until I came here and now I am so thankful for every sunny day. Tell you what though if it keeps getting hotter I might melt. On Saturday it was up in the 90's and it is still early may... I hate to see what the summer heat will bring:)

We are staying really busy. I love that about this area... Never a dull moment. Elder Walker and I have just been pushing and pushing and we are seeing great results come from it. This past week we had 34.5 total work hours which is just the amount of time that we report as work hours (not including meetings etc. just hours pounding the pavement) and the mission average is about 20 hours. We are really laying it all on the line. It is a little hard with it as hot as it has been but that was the best week that I have had for a long time and possibly ever.

Leatha is still doing really well. She has her interview on Friday and then her baptism is in the 18th. She is so great! She loves the gospel and just wants to keep learning more and more! We are just seeing so many miracles take place in our lives here as missionaries.

As far as birthday stuff goes... I dont really know. I don't want anything that is going to be hard to pack around. maybe some white strips or something or maybe just keep some money and give it to me when I get home... There really isn't anything that I really want. As far as things from Mela... I could use pre-spot(I spray my clothes every night when I get home so that the will stay clean), revive, clarity soap. Whatever else.

Mothers Day is Sunday. I will call at 8pm my time... I know that is late but that is rteally the only time that we can make work and I will only have 1 hour or less.

Also Olivia said to let you know that it is time to register for classes soon. She said that she could help you or do it for you, I guess for me:), so whatever works for you there.

I love you all so much! Thanks for all that you do for me!!!

Love Dustin

PS Elder Walker and I didn't get transfered today:)

April 28

Hey!!

So we had a really great week! Nikki and Mercedes were baptized on Saturday!! So many people came that we had to move into the Chapel because there were too many people to fit into the font room. It was really a great baptism. They have both just been fully fellowshiped into the ward. It is awesome!

We were also able to meet with our other investigators and they are really starting to progress! There are so many awesome things that are happening here.

This week I really gained a testimony of being called to help certain people come into the Gospel. There is a family here that Elder Mecham and I started to teach when I was in Gresham. Then I got transfered out here and what do you know we are teaching the Burtlow's... They moved out here and now we are working with them and they are starting to progress toward the temple. I was so excited about that. Well then last Monday I was driving and saw two investigators that we were teaching in Tualatin. I was in a place that I really couldn't stop and talk with them but I fugured that they were just out here visiting. Well yesterday Elder Walker and I were walking to go visit some people and what do you know there is Shelby across the street from us. He stopped on the corner and we crossed over and talked with him for a while and then he invited us to come over and visit them... I was so excited because one of the last things that I said as I was leaving Tualatin was that Elder Byam needed to get Shelby and Kirsten baptized... Now I get the chance. I am SO excited!

Thanks for all that you do for me! I love you all SO much!!

April 14

Hey!

Sounds like a basic Idaho spring. Freezing cold to really hot. It is a wonder that anyone can live there. I am afraid that i have become to used to having very moderate weather.

We are teaching a bunch of really great people. We are teaching a lady named Leatha. She is 61 and is so ready for the Gospel. This Friday we are having a ward party and she is bringing food and has really just become a part of the ward. The biggest problem that we have is that she doesn't live in our area so right after she gets baptized she is going to have to change wards but we are working on getting that set up sp that it will be a smooth transition. We are also teaching another girl named Mercedes. She is actually getting baptized this Saturday!!! She is 16 and super excited! Yesterday we went to Young Womens with her and she shared her favorite scripture from the Book of Mormon, talked durring the lesson. The ward activity this Friday is actually a fund raiser for the youth and she is bringing stuff to sell. It is just awesome!

Things are going really well. I can't believe how fast time is going. Yesterday we were at a members house teaching them and they look at me and said now you have been in the ward for a while right? At first I was like no I am still new but then I thought about it and it has all ready been almost three months since I have been here!!! I guess they say that time flies when you are having fun.

Thanks for all that you have done for me!! I love you all so much! Have a great week!

April 14

Hey!

This has been another great and crazy week! I can't believe how fast the time goes now... I feel like all I do is run run run and then all of the sudden I am sitting back down to e-mail.

We had some really awesome things happen this past week...

Leatha had to have her baptism pushed back which was a good thing because she is ready but not quite yet (just little details that need to be ironed out). So she is getting baptized May 18th. It was great yesterday because after church she asked to talk with us and she had it figured out who she wanted performing the ordinances. She asked me to do the confirmation and I am so honored. I have done that one other time and the power that you feel is so amazing!

We also got a new investigator (Mercedes) that was handed off to us by the Spanish Elders. She is getting baptized on April 27th. She is so excited and really understands what she needs to do so that she get baptized.

There is also an investigator that the sisters in our district are teaching that lives in our area that is getting baptized on the 27th as well.

The work here is really taking off and we have so much that we need to get done... That Lord has really hastened the work and because of that the bar has once again been raised and it is amazing to see the difference in missionary work just over the past six months. Everyone seems to have missionary work on their mind. We have so much help from members that we never really have a dull moment. I would be just fine finishing my mission here. The only set back is that as of July 1st this area will be in the Salem Mission which would mean a new mission and new mission president... I am willing to go through that but would really prefer to not have to make that change for one transfer. I am also afraid that it might mess up me starting school but we will just have to wait and see... Everything happens for a reason and I am willing to do whatever I am asked.

In this ward we have several students that are attending Pacific University. Most of them are going into optometry. Our Ward Mission Leader (Bro Hughes) is from Nampa and just finished classes and is now on his way out for rotations so we had to get a new Ward Mission Leader. It was such a cool experience yesterday because when they set Bro Alletto apart they asked Elder Walker and I to stand in. I don't think that too many missionaries can say that they helped set apart their ward mission leader.

This past week we went downtown Portland. I feel about Portland almost the way I do Vegas (not as bad) but while I am there all I want to do is leave and go back to my little area that is safe and clean rather than big, dirty and weird. There are a few cool places though. The picture is in front of the smallest park in the world... It is in the middle of the road in downtown.

Thanks for all that you do for me!! I love you all!
